Feel the Power: Rock Supergroup The Power of 3 Plays Las Vegas
Get ready, Las Vegas! A new rock supergroup, The Power of 3, is set to deliver a high-energy, no-cover show this Monday before the highly anticipated Raiders-Cowboys game. Featuring rock icons Orianthi, Cindy Blackman Santana, and Rhonda Smith, this is an event you won’t want to miss, even if you don’t have a game ticket.
Meet The Power of 3
This dynamic trio brings together an incredible pedigree of musical talent. Orianthi, known for her guitar virtuosity with Michael Jackson and Richie Sambora, fronts the group. She’s joined by drumming powerhouse Cindy Blackman Santana, acclaimed for her work with Santana, and bass master Rhonda Smith, whose impressive resume includes Prince, Jeff Beck, Chaka Khan, and Beyoncé.
Together, they forge a hard-edged, 1960s-style rock sound, promising a raw and authentic musical experience.
Your Pre-Game Rock Experience
The Power of 3 will perform their first full Las Vegas set at the Modelo Tailgate Zone (N Lot) outside Allegiant Stadium. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., with the approximately 40-minute show kicking off at 3:15 p.m. The best part? There’s no charge to attend, and it’s open to both game ticket-holders and those just looking for some pre-game entertainment.
Beyond the music, the mini-festival will offer drinks, food trucks, photo opportunities, face-painting, and merchandise from the Raider Image. Keep an eye out for appearances by Raiders alumni and Raiderettes, all happening rain or shine with tents ready to ensure a good time.
From Concept to Supergroup: A Vision Realized
This “passion project” was championed by Raiders owner Mark Davis, a fervent classic-rock fan inspired by Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys. Davis has supported Orianthi’s career for years, ever since seeing her in Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” documentary. His vision to create a trio showcasing her talent led to the recruitment of Cindy Blackman Santana and, later, Rhonda Smith, whom Orianthi discovered performing with Jeff Beck’s band.
The trio, previously known as Band of 3, has already teased their collaboration at Raiders events, including the Super Bowl 59 party in February 2024 and halftime of a Raiders-Jaguars game in December 2024.
New Music on the Horizon: A Vinyl Experience
Monday’s show will be a special occasion, marking the premiere of original songs from their upcoming debut album. The group has been working with legendary producer Eddie Kramer, famous for his collaborations with The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, and The Rolling Stones. The album, tentatively titled “3” or self-titled, is expected in January or February, and notably, will be released exclusively on vinyl.
As Orianthi explains, this choice is a nod to “real music” and the value of a physical album, inviting listeners to enjoy music “the way it should be enjoyed” beyond instant streaming gratification.
Beyond the Stage: Supporting the Community
Raiders owner Mark Davis also recently made headlines for his significant contributions to Opportunity Village. At the Camelot gala on Thursday, Davis donated $50,000 for five pieces of art created by O.V. artists. The event, which honored Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton, raised a record $2 million with support from 350 attendees, including host John O’Hurley and pop star Debbie Gibson.
